Historical Moments

The Syracuse Stars were one of three minor league teams invited to join the American Association. Previously playing in the International Association, the Stars had won the league title in 1888 and 1889.

Though upon moving up to the big league level could not duplicate the success even in a watered down AA after they were hit by the formation of the Players' League. The Stars would finish their one season in the American Association in seventh place, posting a record of 55-72.

Cupid Childs, was the top hitter for Syracuse, batting . 345 with two home runs and 89 RBI.

On the mound the Stars were led by Dan Casey who posted a record of 19-22, with a 4. 14 ERA, while John Keefe went 17-24 with a 4.
