Historical Moments
The AFL franchise placed in Buffalo founded by Ralph Wilson Jr. decides to a pay tribute to Buffalo's previous Pro-football franchise by adopting the name Bills .
A previous NFL franchise had varying degress of success in the NFL's first decade, but feuds with Chicago Bears owner George Halas led to their demise, and kept the NFL out of Western New York. On September 11th the Bills led by Coach Buster Ramsey drop their first ever game to the New York Titans 27-3 in the historic Polo Grounds.
A week later they would make their home debut at War Memorial Stadium by losing to the Denver Broncos 27-21. The Bills would finally get their first win on September 23rd in Boston over the Patriots 13-0.
They would go on to finish in third place with a 5-8-1 record.
