Historical Moments
The Portland Breakers had three homes in three seasons, now playing at Portland's Civic Stadium. Upon moving to Portland, the Breakers acquired Quarterback Matt Robinson from the Jacksonville Bulls to replace Johnnie Walton who had retired following the 1984 season.
Robinson, struggled from the start, passing for just 2,182 yards with 15 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Making matters worse Marcus Dupree was limited to 69 yards on 17 carries.
Without Dupree, the Breakers again relied on Buford Jordan to carry the ball as he rushed for 817 yards with five touchdowns. Frank Lockett was Portland's leading receiver with 794 yards on 43 catches, while Dan Ross had five touchdowns with 522 yards.
Jerald Baylis and Kenny Neil led the Breakers with five and half sacks, while Bruce Miller had six interceptions. Despite struggling to post a 6-12 record, the nomadic Breakers had solid crowds nearly filling the 20,323 seat Civic Stadium all season with an average attendance of 19,919 per game.
