While the Red Sox were pushed to the brink they come in relatively healthy with their pitching in line as ALCS MVP Josh Beckett will be on the mound for Game 1.
It’s hard to describe what the intangible it is, but you know it when you see it, and Josh Beckett has it. It is the ability to turn it up a notch in the playoffs or any big game, and with two postseason MVP awards, and two wins with his team down 3-1, Beckett is quickly developing a well earned reputation as a great big game pitcher.
Look for Beckett to once again demonstrate his postseason greatness as the Red Sox pitching gives them an upper hand. The Rockies offense is good, but not as good as the Red Sox, like any NL team the Rockies greatness in one category is easily eclipsed by the AL equivalent.
While it is easy to root for the Rockies, and them winning the World Series would make a good story, it is hard to imagine them beating the Red Sox, for they would have to win at least one possibly two games in Fenway and sweep in Colorado.
I can’t see them winning more then one in Fenway, and I can’t see the Red Sox losing all three games in Coors Field. So in the end it will be too much Beckett, too much Manny, and too much Papi as the Red Sox win their second World Series in four years in six games.
